About this monument
At the village is to be found a sikhara type laterite temple facing north. The foundation inscription, almost eroded, records that it was dedicated to Mahadeva. Local tradition assigns the temple to Kapilendradeva, Gajapati king of Orissa. On the west, within the precinct of the temple, is a triple domed mosque. The mosque, according to the inscription on it, was built byMuhammad Tahir in 1699 A.D. during the reign of Aurangzeb. The whole area is within a fort whose wall is 0.9 m. wide and 3.6 m. high. The fort is famous as the Kurumbera fort in the area.
