About this monument
On the bank of the river Kansai is a massive navaratna temple. The temple, facing east, has founded by the local Majumdar family. Its triple-arched façade was once decorated with terracotta plaques. Most of these plaques are lost. The temple may be dated on stylistic ground during the middle of the 18th century A.D. One atchala temple and three flat roofed temples are adjacent to the navaratna temple. Opposite the navaratna temple complex on the northern bank of the river stands the Kalachand temple complex. One rectangular roofless laterite structure with a verandah in front, believed to be a Durga mandapa and a half-buried pancharatna temple comprise the Kalachand temple complex. Besides, a dilapidated pancharatna temple at a short distance, a big tank and a fews other small temples are also included in the complex.
