About this monument
The laterite temple, facing south, belongs to the nagara-sikhara type. It is pancharatha in plan. The rathas are carried upto the peak of the sikhara. From the four sides of the sikhara, project four rampant lions as if leaping into the sikhara. Round bhumi-amalakas are awkwardly embedded in the sikhara as a convention whose meaning was lost to the architect. The sikhara rises almost perpendicularly before taking an elliptical turn to introduce the small ceiling slab. The crowning elements including round amalaka are equally small. Around the arched entrance door are delicately curved on sandstone scenes from the life of Krishna and Pauranic images. Abandoned long before, the temple bears no foundation inscription. On stylistic ground it may be assigned to the 16th century A.D.
