About this monument
The Sitala temple, a dilapidated structure recently restored by the Archaeological Survey of India, stands on the eastern end of Pathra. The brick-built temple belongs to the nagara order. It supports the curvilinear roof characteristic of the order. It stands on a high plinth facing the river on the south. The slightly projected entrance door frame is embellished with a makara-torana motif. The temple is believed to have been built by the local Majumdar family. Its date may be assigned to the first half of the 18th century A.D.
