About this monument
The site was partially excavated though not scientifically by the Directorate of Archaeology, Government of West Bengal. The excavators noticed four periods, viz. protohistoric period, Iron Age and early historic to mediaeval period. The importance of the site is that it places West Bengal in the map of the protohistoric archaeology in India.
