About this monument

Built on a laterite plinth, the monument is an impressive brick built square structure with a small shrine in the center and three corridors around it. A triple-arched façade occurs on its four sides. The shrine in the center is approached through central arched opening on the south. The monument has a truncated pyramidal roof. At the base on every side of its base there were once four dochalas and at the four angles a charchala each. In recent years, Archaeological Survey of India has restored all its lost chalas. The general opinion is that the monument was built in c. 1600 A.D. However, the blind arcade on the face of the plinth may suggest a later date. The building is used for putting up idols from other temples on the occasion of Ras festival every year.
